Rare Capitol of Canada promotional in-store poster for the hit single Do Wah Diddy Diddy (Capitol 72178) from October 1964. This single was issued in Canada by Capitol at the very peak of the British Invasion. Capitol had a huge roster of British Invasion acts at this time.
The photo was taken at EMI's offices at Manchester Square in London England. From left to right are:
Mike Vickers
(guitar, alto sax, flute)
Manfred Mann
(organ)
Tom McGuiness
(guitar, bass)
Paul Jones
(harmonica and vocal)
Mike Hugg
(drums, vibes)
The group was called "The Manfred Mann" on the poster at this time, but they were just called "Manfred Mann" on the label of the single. They issued a number of very cool LPs and singles on the Capitol label in Canada. Many tracks were never issued in the USA (eg the instrumental LP).
The Manfred Mann poster appears by courtesy of Paul White.
