George Martin & His Orchestra - CANADIAN VINYL DISCOGRAPHY - 1964-1968

Compiled By Piers A. Hemmingsen (Copyright 2002, last updated August 27, 2002)

Over the past several years, I have tracked down the following original Canadian George Martin & His Orchestra discs:

(VERY RARE) EARLY SINGLE:

Capitol 72063 Ray Cathode Time Beat / Waltz In Orbit (orange and yellow swirl label)

(Ray Cathode was a pseudonym for George Martin and this disc was probably issued in Canada in December 1962 or January 1963)

(this record pre-dates The Beatles first North American 45 "Love Me Do" Capitol 72076 by a few months)

(needless to say, it sank without trace in Canada)

LATER SINGLES (all pressed by The Compo Company Limited, Lachine, Quebec, Canada)

United Artists UA 745 (Version 1) Ringo's Theme / And I Love Her (red label *** credited to THE BEATLES ***)

(the label format differs from the label of UA 750 as the label on UA 750 has two silver bars across like the Canadian Atco 45 "Ain't She Sweet")

United Artists UA 745 (Version 2) Ringo's Theme / And I Love Her (red label - this label format is similar to UA 750 but uses a different font and the B-side time is listed incorrectly as 3:06 instead of 3:42)

(this version came with the UA 745 picture sleeve that is stamped at the bottom of the side that has the 9 black and white photos "PRINTED IN U.S.A.")

United Artists UA 750 (Version 1) A Hard Day's Night / I Should Have Known Better (red label - no silver bars)

(to my knowledge, no Canadian copies of this 45 have been located with a USA picture sleeve, unlike UA 745)

United Artists UA 750 (Version 2) A Hard Day's Night / I Should Have Known Better (red label - silver bars on label)

United Artists UA 831 Cast Your Fate To The Wind / All Quiet On The Mersey Front ( label format TBD)

United Artists UA 50148 Love In The Open Air / Bahama Sound (no Canadian release of this 45 yet confirmed)
