Welcome To The Capitol 6000 Web Site

This web site has been launched to serve as a portal for the collection and dissemination of all information relating to the Capitol Of Canada "6000" series of LP records as well as for related information (see list below) and has been expanded to include other interesting Canadian labels from the 1960s. Between 1960 and 1987, Capitol Records Of Canada (a subsidiary of EMI), issued the unique "6000" series of LP records for the Canadian market. The series encompasses the very best of Canadian popular music of the era, as well as an incredibly broad range of the very best of European and American EMI artists tailored for the unique tastes of the Canadian record buying public, including The Beatles early and later Canadian-only releases. The 6000 series was boosted initially by Paul White and the decline of the 6000 series in the 1980s coincided with the arrival of the "global format" compact disc. The 6000 series has become famous among music collectors worldwide. An abbreviated discography of the Lps and EMI release dates has been published in 2000 as Appendix II in the following hard-cover book:
